Move comes after letter of intent controversy

Renward Wells has been removed from his position as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Urban Development.

Wells had been at the centre of controversy over claims that he breached government protocols by signing a letter of intent with a company proposing a $650m waste-to-energy deal.

A government statement released on Tuesday evening said:

“The Cabinet Office advises that the Governor General, acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister, has directed that the office of Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Urban Development become vacant.”

This guy Wells just looks like the type who would be incapable of figuring out that Christie and Davis would ultimately have his hide no matter what their differences may be. What a fool Wells has ended up showing that he is!

Corruption is the enemy of development, and of good governance. It must be got rid of. Both the government and the people at large must come together to achieve this national objective.

The longer I live, the more I feel that the individual is not so much to blame - not even the worst individuals, not even the 'best' citizens - as the system of corruption which has grown up about us, and which rewards an honest man with a mere living and a crook with all the magnificence of our magnificent modern life.

Democracy must be built through open societies that share information. When there is information, there is enlightenment. When there is debate, there are solutions. When there is no sharing of power, no rule of law, no accountability, there is abuse, corruption, subjugation and indignation.

TO RENWARD WELLS:That was what you did. You died. You did not know what it was about. They threw you in and told you the rules and the first time they caught you off base they killed you. Or they killed you gratuitously like Aymo. Or gave you the syphilis like Rinaldi. But they killed you in the end. You could count on that. Stay around and they would kill you.” ― Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms

Reheard knew what he was doing. Anybody past grade 9 would know they didn't have to authority to sign a document giving the governments commitment to a 650 MILLION project. He knew what he was doing. Obviously he didn't know they would push him out in the cold if wind of the deal came to light

Agreed. Speculation now on future movements in and out of the PLP such as where will Doc Rollins and Renward go.............. where will Tenny carry his money/power, and how will backbenchers react once the House reconvenes in November...... HMMMMMMM. Coupled with FNM convention and impending Referendum ............. interesting times indeed

What cowardice. Wait until the house is suspended to do anything. Talk about leaderless. Now who asked him to sign and when will they be fired?
