BHS to host to free distemper clinics

THE Bahamas Humane Society will host two free distemper vaccine clinics for dogs this week.

An outbreak of the canine distemper virus, which is dangerous and often fatal, emerged in New Providence this summer.

To assist those less fortunate and their pets, the Bahamas Humane Society continues to host free vaccine clinics.

One clinic will be held on October 22 from 4pm to 6pm at Super Value, Golden Gates on Carmichael Road and the other is set for October 24 from 4pm to 6 pm at Coke Memorial Methodist Church on Bernard Road in Fox Hill.

The clinics are free of charge and are aimed at establishing a “ring of immunity” within New Providence to protect pets.

“Please bring your pets to get this important vaccine,” the BHS said in a statement.

“If you attended a previous vaccine clinic, please be sure to bring your dog for its second vaccine.”
