THROUGH her Cross My Heart Ministry, Shakeisha McKenzie made a promise to God to help uplift and empower the future generation of young women through love and fellowship.

It is the ministry’s desire, she said, to bring young girls and women to the full understanding of how to authentically love God while helping them to love themselves and in turn love others.

The 25-year-old single mother said the organisation is mainly geared towards single women, encouraging them to be content with their life’s journey.

“It was all God and by divine inspiration that got me started with Cross My Heart.

“I am not a person who has ever been single prior to this because I’ve always been in relationships.

“What prompted my inspiration to do this was having a need for intimacy that I was seeking in relationships instead of seeking it in Christ, where I should have been in the first place,” said Shakeisha.

She said the Lord placed it on her heart to carry the ministry through for the world to experience.

Cross My Heart’s introduction to the public came when Shakeisha started a personal blog entitled “100 Days of Singleness.”

“I would post every day based on either an experience, inspiration, a prayer or something along those lines to encourage my readers.

“Women started going along with that. From there, I went on to hosts two events called ‘Truth About Me’ and ‘Heart to Heaven’.

“This is just a way for women to understand that they are not alone although they are single. There are many of us that are here and we should be able to build each other up and to push each other into our purpose,” said Shakeisha.

While her first event, “The Truth About Me”, did not deliver the turnout she expected, Shakeisha said the second one, “Heart to Heart”, more than made up for it.

“The ‘Heart to Heart’ turned out much better; it was great and I was asked if we are doing another one.

“I have a few things in the works and we won’t be doing another event until November; a Cross My Heart Chapter Mixer. That will be a bi-monthly thing that we do,” said Shakeisha.

She said her overall goal for the ministry is to change lives and to give everyone she comes into contact with and everyone who her ministry is able to reach a new avenue of inspiration.

“I encourage readers to find who you are in Christ and in God before you are able to share your life with someone else. I want Cross My Heart to go as far as God intends for it to go.

“I am fully obedient to whatever he has in store for the ministry so I
am looking forward to it,” said Shakeisha.
