WITH a focus on fostering an environment where young adults can evolve, a new programme called EEVO Bahamas recently held its official launch event at the British Colonial Hilton.

Ghandi Thompson, EEVO Bahamas founder and president, said the launch was by personal invite only, yet the turn-out exceeded their expectations.

She said they were pleased to see and interact with the diverse group of young professionals that came out. The feedback was very positive and their survey forms identified various areas of interest.

Ghandi said they are excited to now move forward and have finalised their next event for November 8.

She said EEVO’s mission is to create and sustain a dynamic programme that fosters holistic development through enlightening, entertaining and informative events.

Their overall goal is to positively impact the lives of a cross section of young Bahamians.

The team said it is open to working with similar organisations and have committed to also lend their assistance to various charities.

It is their hope to one day take EEVO Bahamas to the Family Islands because they want to make themselves available to all Bahamians.

As a self-funded organisation, Ghandi said EEVO Bahamas welcomes any support the general public is willing to give.

“I served in the Church of God of Prophecy for many years as a youth director and have found a great sense of fulfilment and happiness seeing the young adults whose lives I touched graduate from college, start their careers, get engaged or married, own homes and businesses, have children and fulfil their divine purpose. Five years ago as I was preparing to give birth to my son, I listened to a message by Dr Myles Munroe. It was one of his Kingdom teachings. I immediately felt a passion to take the message of the Kingdom to the world: outside of the four walls of a

church,” Ghandi said, sharing her inspiration behind EEVO Bahamas.

She started to take action by hosting events at Starbucks under the label GTI Events. As she prayed more on what to do next, Ghandi said she realised that her vision had evolved into aiding the holistic development of young adults.

“The vision was bigger than me and so I needed a ‘dream team’. I needed an inspired, hard-working team that shared a similar agenda and was willing to meet, invest resources, plan, then execute fun, engaging, informative and affordable meetings and mixers where any young adult can come, feel welcome and become empowered to better themselves or help another youth evolve,” said Ghandi.

EEVO is open to young adults between the ages of 20 and 35, however, Ghandi said there are a few persons in the group who are a little older.
