WITNESSES did not show at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday for the trial of a Bahamian entertainer accused of allowing his bar to be used as a place for gaming.

Cedric Munnings, 71, of West Bay Street must now return before Magistrate Samuel McKinney in six weeks for the commencement of his trial concerning a single count of “permitting premises to be used for (the) purpose of gaming.”

The charge stems from an incident that took place on August 9 at Cedric’s Kitchen Restaurant and Bar involving four men.

Ambrose Cargill, 62, Oinel Pierre, 52, Harry Timar, 47, and Jarad Major, 32, were found at the bar, located on Apple Street, playing poker and blackjack.

The four men pleaded guilty to the charge of “gaming in a public place” which contravened Section 24 (10)(B), Chapter 387 of the Bahamas’ Lotteries and Gaming Act.

The magistrate fined each of them $200.

Munnings, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge he faces and is currently on $1,500 bail.
