EVER since she finished college, Chef Alexis Pinder has spent her time exploring new ideas and channelling them into her love for the culinary arts.

The Nassau native said her career has always been a fast-paced, as she has worked in several establishments over the years.

“Things really began after my high school graduation. I attended Le Cordon Bleu (formerly Orlando Culinary Academy) and I held an internship in Flowery Branch, Georgia’s Yacht Club. After finally returning home, I began to cater small events, such as lunches and Thanksgiving dinners – Thanksgiving being a speciality of mine,” said Alexis.

She has been cooking for close to 10 years now, and has become a firm believer in the saying, “Find something you love to do and you’ll never work a day in your life.”

Expanding on her ambitions, Alexis developed a company called Alexandria’s Culinary Artistry (ACA), a brand that encourages the basics of culinary art.

For the past decade, Alexis and her growing team has managed to bring a new taste and look to the local culinary scene.

Beginning with standardising recipes and using the HACCP training system, ACA has managed to start with something new, upbeat and flavourful.

The company’s aim is to give Bahamians a closer look at international cuisine.

“From my college days, I began to develop a strong love for international cuisines and this can usually be seen in some of ACA original recipes, and I invite others to join in on the experience,” said Alexis.

ACA recipes and culinary books can be ordered via http://alexispinder.wix.com/acabrand.

Alexis said her inspiration for ACA stems from her very own success as well as the success of others. She is her own toughest critic.

“I have met and shared a lot of my inspirations with close family and friends, and also the organisation of the NLNC. This is a group that has helped ACA with productions and catering. Although ACA is only just beginning, the company has surely grown significantly. ACA offers services from catering, to private chefs, from restaurant programmes to kitchen consultations, and ACA products such as cook books to our very own cook wares; don’t forget private lessons and meal plans,” she said.

Alexis said there is something for everyone at ACA, from the culinary blogs to the ACA kids club. Meat eaters, vegetarians and even vegans can find a gourmet experience at ACA.

“We are determined to become a household name and a brand firstly trusted by Bahamians. You ask about ACA’s future, I say why ask when you can be a part of it. Join our culinary experience,” she said.
