DO YOU have that one music artist on your bucket list, that specific singer you just have to see live in concert at one point in your life?

Well, two lucky Bahamians got to experience not just one of their favourites, but two mega stars in one go.

“An experience you would have to see for yourself” was the sentiment shared by 100 Jamz FlyAway promotion winners Megan Ferguson and Ryan Major.

The Tribune radio station 100 Jamz partnered with Bahamasair and their new West Palm Beach service to fly Ryan and Megan as well as their respective guests, Charlow and Pamela Lightbourne, to see Drake and Lil Wayne on September 3 at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in Florida.

The winners stayed at the Best Western Palm Beach Lakes and had a car rental courtesy of GoGoFlorida.

In an interview with Tribune Entertainment, Ryan said they received the full red carpet treatment, from the flight and hotel service to the great seats at the concert.

“With me being a Drake and Lil Wayne fan, I was like a kid in Disney World seeing them perform in person. It is an experience I will never forget. It’s a must that you experience it; it’s more than a concert; it’s a show with all the stage props and all the attributes to go along with,” he said.

“100 Jamz gave us a good opportunity to go over and see rap moguls that I love. I love everything about the two artists so it was a good experience for me to go over there along with my girlfriend, Pamela. We had a blast and we want to thank 100 Jamz and Bahamasair for putting everything together.”

Ryan himself is a rapper, known in the Bahamas by the name of “Ras Cat”, so he said the trip was more than just a good time, it was also an opportunity to take notes.

“I was there with my mental notepad taking notes because it is one thing to see it on YouTube or TV, but to be there and see how the whole production is put together is unexplainable. Something like that encouraged me to step my game up in terms of entertainment here in the Bahamas,” said Ryan.

Megan said she entered the competition after hearing the commercial playing on 100 Jamz’ The Midday Show. After calling during Special K and Lezz Boogie’s morning show a few days later, she received a call that she had won the trip.

“I was shocked because you never really think you’re going to win. The entire experience was fun for my boyfriend and I. And while I was waiting in the airport it turned out that I actually knew the other winner, Ryan. Everything went smoothly with no issues. It was basically a battle between the two artists, and while I am a very huge fan of Drake, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole concert.

I love that 100 Jamz is doing things like this because it sort of gives you an experience of a lifetime. It makes the listeners become very interactive with the station,” said Megan.

Radio House, the home of 100 Jamz, said it is planning to continue with these type of promotions because it is a way for them to give back to their listeners. Their intent is to bring fun back to the airwaves. The team at the station would like to thank Woodrow “Woody” Wilson, senior manager of international sales Bahamasair, for helping make this promotion a success.

Radio House said it is looking forward to many more FlyAways with Bahamasair to give their listeners the chance to see their favourite artists all around the world.
