THREE men were remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison yesterday after being arraigned in connection with the hold-up of a food store manager in a bank parking lot.
Kenson Louis, 35, Ronald Telfort, 33, and John Augustin, 33, stood before Magistrate Andrew Forbes facing a charge each of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery concerning the September 2 incident outside Commonwealth Bank on Wulff Road.
It is alleged that they conspired to and did rob Tan Xiu Li of $1,600 while armed with a handgun. The charges, which they were not required to enter a plea to, carry a penalty of up to life imprisonment.
On the day in question, the female manager of John Chea No 3 parked her vehicle and began walking toward the entrance of the bank. As she arrived at the door, she was approached by two masked men, one armed with a handgun.
The men robbed the woman of the deposit bag before fleeing in a silver coloured four-door sedan.
The three accused are scheduled to return to Magistrates Court on November 4, when they are expected to have the case fast-tracked to Supreme Court through presentation of a Voluntary Bill of Indictment.
The magistrate informed them that the lower court had no jurisdiction to consider or grant bail but advised them of their right to apply for a bond to the Supreme Court. None were legally represented in yesterday’s arraignment.
