ENTREPRENEUR and bird enthusiast H Rudy Sawyer is sharing his passion for bird watching and love for nature by taking visitors and locals on a unique nature tour adventure in East Grand Bahama.

Mr Sawyer opened tour company Blue Green Outdoors more than a year ago. The tour starts off with a nature walk at McCleans Town, one of the oldest settlements in Grand Bahama.

Visitors and locals are guided through a walking path along the shoreline of East Grand Bahama. During the walk, Mr Sawyer points out the various native and visiting birds and gives a brief history about East End.

The walk ends at the beach at Crabbing Bay, where guests are taken on the second part of the tour – kayaking over blue holes off the shore.

“It’s a great work out for those used to just sitting at desks but it is sheer fun being out on the blue-green waters showing all the wildlife in its transparent depth,” Mr Sawyer said.

The kayak tour takes guests through mangroves and more blue holes. After the fantastic water adventure, kayakers are taken to the bay for lunch, which is provided by food vendors in the neighbouring settlement.

Mr Sawyer said the experience is not just for tourists.

“Locals can also call up and book a tour to get to know the island more and its gorgeous surroundings,” he said.

Mr Sawyer has a van and picks up tourists or interested persons from their hotel or the boat. During the journey to East End, he also points out the many birds on the way to McCleans Town.

Wonderful story! Like how he developed an interest into a bu$ine$$ and then extended his vision to include food vendors in the settlement. Very enterprising! Congratulations to all taking part.
