BASKETBALL

BBF COACHES CLINIC

THE Bahamas Basketball Federation is scheduled to continue its Level 1 Coaches Course 9am today at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium. The clinic will continue on Saturday at the same time. The federation will advise the time for the activities on Sunday. Ewin Pena is the chief clinician.

BASEBALL

JBLN ACTION

THE Junior Baseball League of Nassau announced that its registration for the 2015 season is slated to begin 10am to 2pm on Saturday at the JBLN Field of Dreams. The final registration will be held on Saturday, October 4. The league also announced that a coaches’ meeting will take place 7pm September 30.

Tryouts for the draft will be held noon to 2pm on Saturday, October 4 and the draft is set for 7pm on October 7. The pre-season is scheduled to begin on November 12 and the regular season on January 14 with the opening date on January 17.

GOLF

LPGA CLINIC

THE Ministry of Tourism will be joining forces with the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) to put on the Corporate Cup/Kids Camp at the Ocean Club Golf Course 10am Saturday LPGA professional Louise Freiberg is expected to attend.

BOWLING

CLAYTON Gardiner & Associates will continue the Boyz of Summer Bowling Series Tournament, dubbed the CG Par 72 Bowling Championship, at Mario’s Bowling and Entertainment Palace. The tournament got started yesterday and will wrap up on Sunday.

CHAMPION AMATEUR

SHOW

RAY Minus Jr has announced that his Champion Amateur Boxing Club will host the ‘Moving Forward’ amateur boxing show 7pm Saturday, September 27, at the Wulff Road Boxing Square. The show will feature amateur boxers from the various amateur boxing clubs in the Bahamas.

Next up is the 21st L Garth Wright Sr Golden Glove Amateur Boxing Tournament set for Saturday, October 11.

NPOTSA ACTION

THE New Providence Oldtimers Softball Association continued its regular season at the Archdeacon William Thompson Softball Park over the weekend. The following results were posted:

Dozer Pros 20,

Doc Stallions 1

Selwyn McKenzie had three hits with two runs batted in (RBI), scoring three runs to lead the Pros. Alfred Munnings was the winning pitcher and Ian Graham got the loss.

Crusaders 20,

Q-Club Divers 18

Keith Butler, in five-at-bats, had three hits with four RBI and three runs scored for the Crusaders. Greg Gardiner was the winning pitcher and Keith Richards was tagged with the loss.

Corner Boys 15, Giants 8

Jason Sweeting had four hits with four RBI and two runs scored to pace the Corner Boys to victory. Nkomo Ferguson was the winning pitcher and Paul Moss was the loser.

Sigma Crusaders 13,

Home Boys 6

Andy Ford had two hits with two RBI and two runs for the Crusaders. Anthony Rolle was the winning pitcher and Sidney Thomas got the loss.

Corner Boys 14,

Q-Club Divers 7

John Lockhart had four hits with a RBI and two runs scored to lead the Corner Boys. Harold Fritzgerald was the winning pitcher and Lester Stuart got the loss.

Proper Care 12,

Blue Water Truckers 9

Nelson Farrington had four hits and four runs scored to lead Proper Care. Franklyn Martin was the winning pitcher and Gary Johnson got the loss.

Home Boys 19,

Crusaders 19

The game wasn’t completed because of darkness and will have tobe replayed at a later date to be announced.
