Free clinics to tackle distemper

THE Bahamas Humane Society will host several free distemper vaccine clinics this week in an effort to build a “ring of immunity” in New Providence to protect dogs from the disease.

The clinics will be held on Wednesday at E P Roberts Primary School on Lincoln Blvd from 4pm to 7pm and Friday at Solomon’s Super Centre from 2pm to 6pm.

“The canine distemper virus continues to affect the dogs of New Providence, so the Bahamas Humane Society continues to offer its free clinics in an effort to protect as many dogs as possible from this often-fatal disease.

“The clinics are free of charge and are aimed at establishing a ‘ring of immunity’ within New Providence to protect our pets,” the Humane Society said. “Please bring your pets to get this important vaccine. If your dog received a first booster at any one of our previous free clinics, please be sure to bring it for the second.”
