AN American man appeared in Magistrates Court on Thursday accused of several drug related charges in connection with a nearly half a million dollar drug seizure in Bimini.

Gary Michael Stolt, 42, of Naples, Florida stood before Magistrate Andrew Forbes alongside three men from Bimini - Carron Bain, 36, Kimani Doltin, 38, and Jason Dumevert, 22, concerning the March 30 seizure of 436 pounds of marijuana.

It is alleged that all four men, concerned together, were in possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply, imported dangerous drugs with intent to supply, took preparatory steps to export dangerous drugs and conspired together to commit the above mentioned offences.

However, all four accused men pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

On the day in question, Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) officers, along with officers from the Bimini division, acted on a tip that led them into a marina on South Bimini where they boarded a 30-foot sailing vessel.

Once there, police found a man on board with a quantity of marijuana packages weighing 436 pounds. The drugs have an estimated value of $436,000.

As the quartet has pleaded not guilty, they will stand trial on June 22. They were denied bail, as the magistrate does not have the jurisdiction to consider a bond on such charges. However, they have the right to apply to the Supreme Court for a bond.

Dumevert was the only accused not legally represented at the arraignment.

Attorney Tai Pinder appeared for Stolt while Jomo Campbell and Rico Russell represented Bain and Doltin respectively.
