Man in hospital after stabbing

A MAN is in hospital after being stabbed by another man during an argument on Saturday.

Police said the attack happened shortly after 10.30pm on Saturday. The victim was injured in the upper body by his attacker, who fled on foot.

The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in serious condition.

Police are also investigating an armed robbery that occurred shortly before 1am on Sunday.

According to reports, two men armed with a handgun, robbed a small business on Gibbs Corner of a small amount of cash and a cell phone before fleeing on foot.

SUSPECT SHOT BY POLICE

Police have also reported that a suspect was shot and taken to hospital after a high speed chase with officers.

According to reports, shortly after 11am on Thursday, police were on patrol when they saw two men in a green 1998 Mitsubishi Lancer driving in a dangerous manner west on Carmichael Road near Faith Avenue.

The officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the occupants sped off. A chase followed that ended at Golden Isles Road where the vehicle slowed down and the passenger pointed a handgun at the police, according to police.

The officers, fearing for their lives, fired at the suspects. The suspects sped off in the area of Excellence Estates, where the vehicle came to a stop. Police arrested the driver, but the suspect with the firearm ran into nearby bushes. He was shot in the thigh and eventually arrested, police said. The two suspects, ages 26 and 21, are in custody for firearm possession.

The injured suspect was taken to hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition under heavy police guard. Investigations are continuing.
