Concern over policing

EDITOR, The Tribune.

It was very interesting to hear and know of a statement that was said to have been made by the Commissioner of Police. It was aired by one of the local radio stations during a news brief. The statement by the Police Chief was in effect that, “his men“ knew just where the crimes were happening, and what is going on with crimes here in the Bahamas, etc. “No outside help needed.”

Editor, then how in the world can hostility, intimidation and threats of violence be carried out on one of our law-abiding citizens of this country, commencing January 6, 2014, to approximately May of 2014, before there was some abatement and calming of what could clearly be seen as open aggression and prejudice upon my person, and, although a few complaints were made to the local police, plus during walk-a-bout done by Police and Defence Force Officers in that particular community of Bimini Avenue, Police were acquainted of the matter; yet nothing much was done, although many were able to observe the blatant attack and harassment

on the rights and safety of the senior, at a Senior Citizen’s Complex, which hosts a younger adults block as well.

Most likely there is a cover up going on – whatever the reasons, and with specific authority persons’ connections; who seemed to have “dragged their feet” on the matter. Why? This writer feels there are a lot of unsavory answers, however, no matter what the answers are – it was and is something terribly wrong, and endangered, and, yet endangered seniors in general at the site, some of whom are stigmatised, lied upon and are not shown much regard, only hate, this perpetuated by some of the younger persons and some children at the complex and the immediate area.
