Junkanoo is a family affair

EDITOR, The Tribune.

We have heard all variations of objections about Junkanoo Carnival. Many have not even really checked what is being planned, but we attach ourselves to the first bit of information that talked about failure.

Most Bahamians prefer to succeed, and most would prefer to give anything an opportunity to work before we criticize. The least we could do is take a wait and see attitude.

Junkanoo is a family affair, what is wrong with that? The showcasing of our top performers is a positive because many have not had any work in “donkey years”, what is wrong with that.

So the same level of excitement we have at Boxing and New Year’s Day parades will be even more exciting, because we can “get involved, get involved” and experience the feeling for ourselves, wow, what a rush!

Junkanoo Carnival is a time to “let your hair down”. We all are human and we find many things to party about, why not party about being Bahamian.

Let not be distracted by the noise in the market. The musicians will be there, even some who pretended to object, they would not miss this for the world.

Mommy, daddy, sister, brother and pastor who may have objected will all be there. So avail yourselves with the venues and programme, so there is no last minute missteps. I believe this will be an event that will long be remembered.
