Police officer charged with raping two underage girls

A POLICE officer in Grand Bahama was charged in the Freeport Magistrates Court on Monday with raping two underage girls.

Corporal Alexander Beneby, of No 194 Scott Avenue, was arraigned sometime after 2pm in Court Three before Magistrate Rengin Johnson.

It is alleged that Beneby, 41, engaged in unlawful sexual intercourse with the two girls, whose ages are being withheld. He pleaded not guilty to two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a dependent.

Beneby elected summary trial. He is represented by lawyer Wendal Smith. He has been remanded to the Department of Correctional Services in New Providence until his trial on July 28, 2015.

ABACO TEEN CHARGED

In other court news, a male teen was charged on Monday in the Marsh Harbour Magistrate’s Court with attempted murder and firearm possession with intent to endanger life.

Jeason Delhomme, 18, of The Mud, Abaco, appeared before Magistrate Ancella Evans-Williams.

It is alleged that on April 23, the accused discharged a firearm at officers in the shanty town. He was not required to enter a plea to the charges. He was remanded to the Department of Correctional Services until June 8 when a preliminary inquiry will be held.

Delhomme was also charged in a separate matter with housebreaking. He pleaded guilty to the charge and will be sentence on May 27.
