Another cyclist killed after traffic collision

A man in his mid-50s was killed late Sunday night after he was in a collision with a truck while riding his bicycle in Eleuthera.

It happened around 8pm on Queen’s Highway in Governor’s Harbour, police said.

According to reports, the victim was riding his bicycle when he was involved in a collision with a Ford Truck being driven by a 24-year-old man.

He was rushed to the island’s local clinic in critical condition but died a short time later.

The driver of the truck is assisting police with their investigations.

This traffic fatality comes 48 hours after a 49-year-old man was also killed while riding his bicycle.

According to reports, shortly after 9pm on Friday a man was travelling north on his bicycle on Don McKay Boulevard in Abaco when he was in a collision with a vehicle also travelling north. The driver did not stop.

The victim was taken to the local clinic, but died a short time later.

Acting on information, officers later arrested a 26-year-old male resident of Abaco and New Providence and recovered a silver, 2000 Buick Century that is believed to the vehicle involved in the accident.
