As social ills and other challenges continue to put a strain on the country, the Trinity City of Praise and the Commonwealth and Global Prayer Grotto are aiming to keep the faith through prayer.

For the past 15 years, the Commonwealth and Global Prayer Grotto has been the country’s only 24-hour prayer centre.

Now, both entities are issuing a clarion call to all believers, for Bahamians affected by the stalled Baha Mar project and those who are concerned about the state of the nation to come together as one people this Saturday at 5.30am as they congregate at the Bahamas Development Bank Parking Lot on Cable Beach.

The group will then proceed with the Jericho Prayer Walk for Baha Mar and a better Bahamas. The walk will take a route around the perimeters of the mega resort’s property.

Organisers said the specific purpose of the walk will be centered around praying that the walls of hindrances will come down and progress will be made at Baha Mar. They believe that prayer is the key to anything and that God answers prayers.

The Jericho Prayer Walk is just one of many prayer walks and prayer motorcades to be hosted by members of the Trinity City of Praise and the Commonwealth and Global Prayer Grotto, led by Apostle Ed Watson, senior pastor at Trinity City of Praise.

“As the world looks on with much anticipation to the outcome of the Baha Mar issue, and as Bahamians near and far continue to hope for the best, many with jobs weighing in the balance, it is time for the church to arise and take its rightful position and declare that every stranglehold that has kept this project from moving to completion and opening, resulting in numerous delays, must come down.

“We, the Church, have watched the back and forth between our government and the developer of the resort,” said Apostle Watson.

As people of God, Apostle Watson said they believe that there is nothing impossible with God, and they serve a God who specialises in difficult challenges.

“It is time for the insults to stop, the back and forth attacks to cease, and for the good of the people and the will of God to prevail,” he said.

As they walk this Saturday, Apostle Watson said participants will unite as one – no labels, no separate entities, just one Church and one people.

“This walk transcends across denominational barriers and titles. We are grateful to have the support of the Bahamas Christian Council in this endeavour and we invite members of our government and the people of this Commonwealth as well as those from Baha Mar and any other grouping involved in negotiations to take part in this march of unity and purpose for the Commonwealth of the Bahamas,” said Apostle Watson.

Apostle Gail McKinney of the Global Prayer Grotto said they have seen some of the most difficult prayers answered and have provided a safe haven for Christian believers from all walks of life to come and petition difficult prayer requests.

“As you can imagine, the Prayer Grotto has been over the past few months bombarded with prayer requests or believers praying for families and loved ones either affected by the Baha Mar crisis or those concerned enough and wanting to see a resolution to the ongoing debacle. We believe that through prayer all things are possible if we only believe,” said Apostle McKinney.

She said this mission requires intercessors and believers from throughout the nation. For those who may not be able to join in the Jericho Prayer Walk, Apostle McKinney encourages them to join in prayer between 5am and 7am wherever they may, as participants of the walk make declarations and intercessions for Baha Mar, and by extension, the nation.

“One of the mantles of the Commonwealth and Global Prayer Grotto is to lift up a prayer covering over our nation and this region. Therefore, we take this mission quite serious as our country prepares to transition. Now is the time to pray,” said Apostle McKinnney.
