Honour Glen Pratt

EDITOR, The Tribune.

It hurt my heart deeply when I saw a number of persons named, with their photos and the Sports in which they excelled being honoured and unveiled at The Sports Centre a few days ago.

It hurts deeply, because Mr Glen Pratt who excelled in the sport of Golf was absent from that listing. How is it that, a black male, who excelled in a traditionally viewed “white man” sport, was seemingly ignored?

Government leaders, who are aware of the local golfing scene, cannot deny the trail blazing exploits of Glen Pratt. He now stands as a model of the power of sports to instil discipline in the life of a young man. Given the unabaiting tide of crime in our country, a Glen Pratt should not be forgotten, but remembered.

Therefore, I call upon the powers that be in this country to use their office to acknowledge and memorialise the sterling contribution of Glen Pratt. Thank you for giving me the opportunity through this medium to share his story.
