A MAN accused of fatally stabbing a victim outside a club last summer will have to wait until next year to find out when he will be tried for the murder.

Richard Hepburn Jr, 20, appeared before Justice Bernard Turner in the Supreme Court yesterday in his first of three dates that were fixed for potential trial concerning the June 14, 2014, death of Charlton Robinson.

His substantive trial is scheduled for June 19, 2017. The backup dates were yesterday’s date and May 17, 2016.

However, Justice Turner could not hear the matter due to an ongoing case over which he is presiding, resulting in an adjournment to May 2016.

The Crown alleges that Hepburn stabbed 23-year-old Robinson during a fight outside Vanity Club on Elizabeth Avenue.

The young father was rushed to hospital, but died shortly after 1am.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the murder charge when formally arraigned in the Supreme Court last November.

He has been on remand since July 2014.

Hepburn Jr has retained attorney Krysta Mason-Smith to represent him against the allegation.
