Bahamas problems

EDITOR, The Tribune.

It seems we love to do things to annoy the hell out of us rather than reduce the stress and anxieties.

Billboards .... One thing that has come with the legalising of Numbers is everybody seems to have to have 12-sheets of plywood billboards on every roundabout and major traffic junction. How many have permits from Department of Physical Planning? Pull them down, Mr Director!

Bay Street - none other than the DG Tourism says we are cleaning up down town....

Madam, ask BEC to change those old rusty poles been there so long Columbus might recognise them.

What cruise ship passengers who come ashore tend to wear? More and more you see ladies in skimpy tops and some walking along Bay in bikinis. Men who never should go shirtless walk the streets out to Junkanoo Beach.

Wouldn’t be too bad if either were Mr or Ms Universe, but they are not.

Why was Sunshine Insurance given the award for creating tourist arrivals originating from the marathon? Tourism long time overdue let’s see the figures, especially including the hotel rates at the time of these events (most times the hotels run room discounts of between 40-50 per cent). Really what is the economic impact other than a person sleeping in a bed?

US Travellers into Caribbean are up a whopping 16 per cent in 2015.....Bahamas up a disgraceful 1.6 per cent identified totally to Bimini and Memories and our Tourism people will never admit we’s in a mess, a serious mess.
