AML Foods plans to complete the ‘remodel’ of its Dominos franchise locations within the next year, company executives said yesterday, telling Tribune Business they are aiming to generate 20 per cent of total sales via the Internet by end-2016.

The company kicked-off its remodelling initiative via the opening of its Cable Beach location last June and, according to Shervin Stuart, AML Foods’ vice-president with responsibility for franchise operations, the company is looking to now complete the two remaining restaurants. There are nine Dominos locations in New Providence and two in Grand Bahama, with a total staff of 200 people.

“All of our stores except for two have been re-branded to the most current generation stores Dominos is developing,” Mr Stuart said.

“This is a part of our 25th anniversary, the remodelling  of our stores. We have added additional seating for our customers, and we have also been moving away from the typical delivery and carry-out restaurants.

“We wanted to basically enhance the customer experience by presenting something that is unique and different. We believe that we have achieved that. The re-branding has been well received by the customers generally.”

Mr Stuart added: “We are always looking for opportunities to expand the business. Right now we want to complete our remodel. We have two stores remaining. We want to complete that and we intend to complete that sooner rather than later; within the next year.”

The AML executive said the online take-up is growing in the Bahamas. “We have set a goal for ourselves to be at a certain percentage within three years, and we feel very confident that we will be able to achieve that as the on-line ordering has been well received,” Mr Stuart told Tribune Business.

“We’re hoping to be within 20 per cent by the end of next year and to incrementally grow. We feel that it is doable and we’re working very aggressively to achieve that.” Dominos launched its Bahamas on-line ordering service in January.

Brian Trier, Domino’s vice-president of the Americas and international training, told Tribune Business: “Technology represents more than just on-line ordering for us. It’s really the full fleet of products. It’s about being able to order with us from just about any device. Our ambition is 45 per cent of all of our business is driven through our on-line portal.”
