NURSES at the Marsh Harbour Clinic, Abaco, staged a sit-in yesterday over unresolved maintenance and infrastructure issues.

Charlene Bain, acting community health administrator with the Public Health Department, told The Tribune there had been no interference in services to the general public.

“Unfortunately, they (the nurses) decided to withdraw their services without telling us what were the issues,” she said.

There are about seven to nine nurses on staff at the government clinic in Marsh Harbour. Ms Bain said there are a myriad of things that may have triggered the sit-in.

She noted that there had been some maintenance issues at the clinic concerning a faulty air-conditioning unit.

“In regards to that, that is being addressed. Also, there  were some other infrastructure problems that are being addressed as we speak, and hopefully we should have all these things rectified by end of the week,” she said.

Ms Bain said services have not been interrupted as they have posted other nurses to fill in at the Marsh Harbour clinic.
