Golden Gates men take game one of BSC best-of-3 softball championships

JEFFERY Woodside cracked a three-run home run Tuesday night as Golden Gates rebounded for a 13-12 come-from-behind walk-off-the-field victory over Charles W Saunders to snatch game one of the Baptist Sports Council men’s best-of-three championship series.

However, Golden Gates couldn’t mount a comeback after a complete breakdown in the fourth inning as Macedonia scored 13 runs en-route to a 18-16 decision to take the co-ed championship opener in the Banker’s Field at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex.

Game two in both series is all set to be played tonight and, if necessary, the third and deciding game is scheduled for Saturday. The co-ed game is slated for 7pm, followed by the men at 8pm.

It was the second three-run shot for Woodside, who gave Golden Gates a 4-1 lead in the first inning. Woodside also scored a run in both a 5-run third and the one-run fourth after he got on base on errors in those two trips.
