A teenager was charged with attempted murder in the Freeport Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Perry Gilbert Russell, 18, of Frobisher Drive, Freeport, appeared in Court One before Magistrate Debbye Ferguson. It is alleged that on December 14, at Freeport, the accused shot a 19-year-old youth.

According to reports, police were called to the Raleigh Drive area where a young man was suffering from gunshot wounds to his body. The victim was taken to hospital and detained in serious condition.

Russell was not represented by counsel and was not required to enter a plea to the charge of attempted murder, which is an indictable offence.

The matter was adjourned and he was remanded to the Department of Correctional Services in New Providence until March 21, 2016, when a preliminary inquiry will be held.
