Corporal punishment

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Wayne Munroe’s statement-opinion is irrational and does not take into consideration The Bahamas commitments to UN and UNHCR Conventions.

Could the QC out his time to resolving the mess in our courts – come up with a system where rationally bail will be administered not as it is today – instead of spending his learned time on this flogging issue he could divert his time to resolving some of the social mess that we are sinking through?

I have to question the Editorial rationale of ZNS - yes this comment should be aired but repeatedly I question and then follow up in the same news segment with a story of human rights that seems to indicate someone is celebrating too early.

Corporal punishment is still on our law books even the cat-o‘nine-tails - surprised the  QC did not propose the more active sentencing should include flogging of Bahamians? Wonder why? Is the learned gentleman playing politics? Surely the learned QC’s rationale for the illegal migrant applies?

He knows the average Bahamian wants Capital Punishment - you know the  old thing…an eye for an eye…remove the cancer and move on he-she will not kill again attitude which is so past in 2015.

There is enough anger to go around – you look the wrong way at a  person these days and you can find yourself in a fight or worse.

We need to learn about forgiveness – mercy – accept opposite opinions – stop hating people – be more ‘Bahamian’ because what we show today is not Bahamian it is alien to us. Why do we pick up the worst from every where?
