Waiting for eyes to open

EDITOR, The Tribune

The Bible book of Genesis, Chapter 2, speaking of Adam and Eve, ends with “And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.”

But then we are told that their eyes were opened and they knew that they were naked and …

It is with great hope that this country waits for the eyes of the PLP Parliamentarians to be opened, so that they can see the level of destruction and damage that has been wrought upon this country.

Not by Hurricane Joaquin, or any other act of God, but by their very own hands and lack of attention to duty and good governance. BAMSI and the Ministry of Works, Bank of Bahamas, Post Office Savings Bank, Post Office Building, Passport Office in Freeport (and maybe here too), Road Traffic in Abaco (and maybe here too), Public Health Authority, College of Bahamas, Blackbeard’s Cay, Nygard Cay, CLICO, Baha Mar - the list goes on and on ad infinitum. Where is their shame?

Notwithstanding all of this, they are hellbent on bringing in a National Health Insurance scheme, when they know, or should know, that there are no financial controls in government, to prevent thievery or wanton waste.

You are naked people. It’s all hanging out. Everybody else in this country can see that you are naked except you. Would it not be prudent to try to get a handle on these open scandals, including the rampant murders, before you go adding to your troubles?

When Baha Mar was just starting to erupt, the Prime Minister stated that his head was “spinning” with all sorts of troubles. But he wants to add more trouble to what he already has on his plate.

When the Auditor General says that his department cannot keep up with the task that they are required to perform, it should send a clear message to anyone, with even half a brain, that things are out of control in this country.

The Auditor General is making a mountain out of a molehill and complaining without sufficient reason. He can simply issue a monthly report at the end of each month. I will do the one for him for January 2016, and he can copy the format for the remaining months of the year. I do this pro-bono.

According to Bruce under the FNM there was no unemployment, there was no crime, Murders increased under the FNM for the first time. No one can really blame any Government for murders and crime. They must do their very best to stamp it out. But it comes out of the heart and minds of people. And their Papa or their "Delivery Boy'" was this perfect man. who sold Cable Bahamas to Canadians who sold it back to Bahamians only after their 15 year monopoly and they had made all of the money they wanted. remember Bahamians need not apply. they would mess it all up. The same goes for BTC, Cable Bahamas theme song is " we are Bahamian owned" Well they do say we are "D" graders, We can not read. So Bruce would like to sell us his illusions, Try again Bruce.

Birdie, Mr. Raine never once mentioned the FNM because his letter was aimed at what is going on today. He is correct in what he is saying.

For your information, we change governments because we want something better. We elect a particular party because they say that they can fix things and make them better. That is why the PLP was elected. They said that they would stop the crime, make the economy better and reduce unemployment.

All he is saying is that this government has, so far, failed us on every front. Quite frankly, he is correct.

Birdie, open your eyes.

The FACT of the matter is this government is a complete FAILURE. Perry Christie is a FAILURE. The Bahamas will be a failed nation if we re-elect this disaster of a government!

While I share the author's analysis of our country's current dilemma, I hold out no hope that the eyes of this PLP administration will ever be opened, or that they might have a come-to-Jesus moment. If Perry and the entire cabinet resigned, and refused to offer themselves for office ever again, maybe I might find some semblance of redemption for the PLP and its legacy.

Co-sign. Agree entirely. Perry Christie has been retarded by his mini-stroke the last go round, and the PLP pull his strings as puppetmasters.

The FNM's ramble on and on. The FNM party will save the Bahamas. Minnis with no vision and Butler Turner with "I am better than all of you attitude." Now Banker the truth hurts . but it is the truth just the same.

The truth is the PLP is destroying our country. The fact that you dear birdie are more loyal to your party than you are to your country is what is allowing them to do so. This government is evil, there is no other way to describe them. So you just keep siding with the devil.
