Operators top Saints, Queens beat Lady Truckers

THE Bommer Gee Lady Operators and the Super Value Cybots Queens pulled off the New Providence Women’s Basketball Association’s double header at the DW Davis Gymnasium on Saturday.

While the Lady Operators defeated the Dee Saints 58-23, the Cybots Queens nipped the Lady Truckers 75-74.

Lady Operators 58, Dee Saints 23

Belen Guzman scored 14 points with seven rebounds for the Bommer Gee as they improved their fourth place record to 2-3. Diasti Delancey had 10 points and five rebounds, Antenique Young had 11 points, Chrishanda Rahming had eight points and 10 rebounds and Keica Smith had seven points and seven rebounds.

Lakeisha Rolle scored just five points with 11 rebounds and Keva Barry also had five points in the loss for the Saints, who are still winless in five games.

Cybots Queens 75, Lady Truckers 74

With 20 seconds left, Vernisha Moss scored a basket to give Super Value a 75-72 lead, but on the next play, Janice Rolle hit a basket to draw Johnson’s within one (75-74) with 11 seconds for the final score.

Moss finished with 12 points and 16 rebounds, but it was Tracy Lewis who led the attack with 23 points and 16 rebounds as the Cybots Queens remained in second place at 3-1. Melisha Peterson had 18 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Shantell Rolle scored 19 points, eight assists and seven rebounds in a losing effort for the Truckers, who are in third at 3-2. Newly acquired Suzette McKenzie had 15 points and five rebounds, Layota Rolle had 12 points and eight rebounds, Ann Bullard had nine points and 13 rebounds, Glenda Gilcud had eight points and six assists and Janice Rolle added seven points and 10 rebounds.
