JOHN Bull executives yesterday said the luxury goods retailer was exploring ways to re-brand  and renovate its Marsh Harbour outlet, in the hope of reopening it in the near future.

In an e-mailed response to Tribune Business’s inquiriesm, Inga Bowleg, director of business development for the John Bull Group of Companies, said four employees had been affected by the store’s closure.

She added that closing the store for an indefinite period “was not an easy decision”.

Tribune Business reported on Tuesday that the luxury goods retailer had shut down its Marsh Harbour outlet last week after it had endured successive years of poor performance and financial losses.

“As the John Bull Group evolves, it is necessary to continually evaluate the viability and profitability of every market and every store,” Ms Bowleg said in a statement.

“This approach is leveraged by retailers throughout the world to ensure a successful business model. Closing this store for an indefinite period was not an easy decision, as John Bull has been a part of the Marsh Harbour business community for many years.

“Our team remains committed to Marsh Harbour and is therefore looking at ways to rebrand (through new concepts and retail assortments) and renovate in hopes of possibly re-opening in the very near future,” Ms Bowleg added.

“John Bull deems itself a caring and responsible employer who indeed prioritises taking care of its people.  For this reason, the four Marsh Harbour employees were offered the choice of a severance package or relocating to another John Bull store.”
