McGreskin new BFA technical director

KEVIN McGreskin has been appointed by the Bahamas Football Association as the new Technical Director of the National Development Programme.

McGreskin, 42, arrived in Nassau earlier this month to take up the role with the BFA, which aims to build on the established, solid foundation of youth football development by focussing more on coaching, women’s and grassroots development. “To lead the development for the next two years, the BFA selected a candidate with expertise to move our game to the next level and contracted Kevin McGreskin,” a BFA statement said.

McGreskin is a UEFA A licence qualified coach with the English, Irish and Welsh Football Associations. He is the founder of Dynamic Sports Vision (now Soccer eyeQ), a respective specialist coaching consultancy that focuses on the development of cognitive skills such as awareness, concentration and decision making. Through the consultancy, he has worked closely with professional clubs, youth teams and national governing bodies, to provide coach education and player development programmes.

He also worked as a consultant coach with Scottish clubs Partick Thistle and Dundee United between 2011 and 2013 and had a spell as head coach and technical director to the Kiribati national team in 2013. His playing career was cut short at 22 by injury.

In the statement the BFA said it was “excited to have such a qualifed individual working with us, as he will be a great benefit to the growth of soccer through education and development”.
