LEAGUE
THE most valuable player (MVP) from the City Bowling League competition last night was Johann Pyfrom of Telco Enterprises, who crushed the pins for a 246 high game and a 652 high three game set. Runner-up was his brother Ritchie Pyfrom also of Telco Enterprises with another big game of 249 accompanied by a respectable set of 618.
The ladies MVP of the evening was Angie Smith of Shinning Stars who toppled the pins for a 211 high game and an excellent 548 high three game set.
Runner-up was Uchenna Delva also of Shining Stars who dropped the pins for a 209 second high game of and an impressive 530 second high set.
Other scores of the evening were: Coca Cola Avengers 2, Giga Tech 1; Bahamasair Flyers 2, Carib Construction 1; Chilly Willy Ice 2, Checker’s Cafe 1; Ten Back Strikers 2, BEC Shockers 1; Telco Enterprises 2, Shinning Stars 1; TK Falcons 2, Commonwealth Electrical 1.
BASKETBALL
BSC MEETING
THE Baptist Sports Council is scheduled to hold a meeting 10am Saturday at Jordan Prince William High School for all teams wishing to participate in the 2015 AID Basketball League.
The league is expected to start following the prestigious Hugh Campbell Basketball Classic at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex. The divisions are men, 19-and-under and 15-and-under.
The registration fee is $200 per team in each division.
CYCLING
NPCA SEASON
OPENING
THE New Providence Cycling Association has announced that its 2015 season will get started this weekend. On Saturday, a 15-mile time trials will start at 7:15am from Baha Mar Boulevard and travel to Old Fort Bay round-a-bout and back at one minute intervals.
On Sunday, a 25-mile road race will begin at 7:30am from the Oasis Restaurant, one mile from the Coral Harbour round-a-bout. The race will travel onto Clifton Pier, Lyford Cay, onto the JFK Drive, left onto Baha Mar Boulevard, finishing up at Goodman’s Bay.
Registration for both events is 30 minutes before the start. For both events the entrance fee is $15 for adults and $10 juniors and ladies. “We are looking forward to your participation,” said association president Barron ‘Turbo’ Musgrove. WITH the New Providence Women’s Basketball Association on a week’s break and the prestigious Hugh Campbell Basketball Classic being played at the AF Adderley Gymnasium, the New Providence Basketball Association will move its games this week to the DW Davis Gymnasium.
