ARMRISTER LEADS

CAVALIERS

BAHAMIAN Shanae Armbrister scored a gme high 25 points and added five rebounds as the Darton State College Lady Cavaliers came from 11 points down with nine minutes remaining in a do-or-die game that determined whether Darton would host the Region 17 Chmpionships as the No.1 seeded team.

The Lady Cavaliers rallied back to beat East Georgia State College 66-61 and clinched the regular season title. The game turned out to be an historic one for Darton State College head coach Lea Henry secured her 100th win as head of the Darton programme.

Darton finished the regular season as the No.1 team in the GCAA with a 16-2 conference record and 26-4 overall. As the top-seeded team, Darton will host the Region 17 Championship February 27-28 in the Cavalier Arens in Albury.

TRACK

CLUB MONICA MEET

THE Club Monica Athletics Track and Field Club is scheduled to host its 12th annual Club Monica Athletics Track and Field Classic at the Thomas A Robinson Track and Field Stadium this weekend. Over 1,100 athletes are registered to compete in the two-day event.

Athletes from New Providence, Grand Bahama, Andros and Exuma are scheduled to begin competition 6pm tonight and 1pm Saturday. There will be heats and finals in the 100m, 200m and 400m in each age category from U-8 to the Open category.

The meet will serve as a CARIFTA and World Youth qualifier and organisers are expecting to see a lot of athletes qualify.

LEAGUE

THE top male player and most valuable player (MVP) of the Financial Bowling League competition last night was Alcondo Hepburn of Fidelity Bulldogs with a high three-game set.

Clayton Gardiner of Leno Corporate Services was the runner-up with a 573 set. The high game was an impressive 234 from Dwayne Ingraham of Sunshine Insurance followed by a 233 from Stan Bethell of the Strike Force. Ladies MVP of the evening was again Joy Lockhart of BTC Night Hawks who toppled the pins for a 211 high game and a 540 set. Lockhart was followed by Betsy Taylor of Sunshine Insurance with a respectable 470 three game set.

Monique Miller of the Strike Force downed the pins for the second high game of 188. 

Other scores of the evening were: 

Sunshine Insurance 3, Price Waterhouse Coopers 0; Strike Force 2, Moonlight Strikers 1; Forsythe Communications 2, Deloitte & Touche 1; Leno Corporate Services 2, Rubis Oil Stars 1; BTC Night Hawks 2, Fidelity Bulldogs 1.

NO RUGBY MATCHES

The national rugby team will be in Florida this weekend at the Ft Lauderdale Ruggerfest, so there will be no games this weekend at the Winton Rugby Center. The league will return back to normal next week with a double header when Baillou is slated to take on Freeport and Buccaneers meet Cuckoos.
