Antique Auto Club of The Bahamas. - Over the past weekend, some of the members of the Antique Auto Club of The Bahamas drove to the Palm Cay Development on the Eastern end of the island and set up a Mini Antique Auto Show on the grounds of the Palm Cay Marina. “It was a wonderful relaxing afternoon,” said Pater Armstrong, Past President of the Antique Auto Club. “Not only was our Mini Show well received by Palm Cay residents, but Management of the development treated us to lunch. It was most appreciated and we look forward to further developing a relationship with the management of this beautiful development.”

As a result of the club’s visit to the development, four new members joined the Antique Auto Club, bringing the total to 71 members. Murray Forde, club secretary and one of the six original members of the club, said: “When we started the club in 1987, we never dreamed of membership growing to this level and are pleased to see how interest in our hobby continues to grow in The Bahamas.”

The club’s annual Antique Auto Show & Cook-Out is now set for Saturday, March 21, at the Arawak Cay Fish Fry Area. Proceeds raised are always used to benefit a charity or organisation involving underprivileged children. This year’s beneficiary is the Old Bight Mission Home in Cat Island.

Crooked Island Ole-Fashion Church Programme. - On Sunday, March 1, at 6pm, all Crooked Islanders and friends of Crooked Island are being asked to gather at Christ Community Church on Bellot Road (off Fire Trail Road) for an evening of praise and thanksgiving with laughter, choir performances, musical selections, poetry, recitations, and the much anticipated dollar rush.

Prior to the programme, donations from churches and the community were solicited. The amounts were announced by the MC at intervals during the event. At the end of the evening, the organisers announce the exact amount of money that was raised. It is then realised that together we showcase our talent and help worthy causes. Small and large donations alike make for a successful programme.

If you are a Crooked Islander or have family from Crooked Island, or if you want to support a worthy cause and be engulfed in true Bahamian Culture, all roads will lead to Christ Community Church (Bellot Road off Fire Trail) on Sunday, March 1, at 6pm sharp. There is an amazing line up of performances scheduled.

Crooked Islanders are urged to bring their hymn books, harmonicas and don’t forget your tambourines!
