AN autopsy could be performed as early as today to determine the cause of death of a man found lifeless in Cat Island on New Year’s Eve morning.

Police officials yesterday remained tight-lipped on the details surrounding the discovery of the body in Arthur’s Town shortly after 8am.

When asked by The Tribune if there was any suspicion of foul play, Chief Superintendent of Police and Central Detective Unit head Paul Rolle said: “I have a team of officers in Cat Island as we speak who are investigating this matter to determine the circumstances of his death.”

As for when the autopsy would be performed, he added that he “couldn’t speak to it as that’ll be done by the pathologist. An identification has to happen first and then hopefully tomorrow (Friday) or Monday the autopsy will determine what caused his death.”
