A MAN was arraigned in Magistrates Court yesterday accused of the rape of a teenage girl.

Mark Lalito Rolle, 30, of Bernard Road stood before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt on a single charge of rape that allegedly occurred on December 22, 2014.

It is claimed he had sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old girl without her consent.

Rolle was not required to enter a plea to the charge due to the nature of the offence.

Before he was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services, Rolle was informed that the case would be fast-tracked to the Supreme Court through the presentation of a Voluntary Bill of Indictment at his next court appearance on February 26.

The accused has retained Ian Cargill to defend him.
