A MINNESOTA couple may seek legal action after they say their four-month-old daughter was given the wrong medication before they were told to leave a Disney cruise ship in the Bahamas.
The Moak from Edina family boarded the Disney Wonder on December 30 in Miami, Florida. Jenny Moak said her daughter Rosie was spitting up more than usual so she brought her on New Year’s Day to a general medicine doctor on board the ship.
Rosie was reportedly prescribed Phenergan, a medicine the Food and Drug Adminstration says should not be used for patients under two years old. The couple received a call several hours after the visit to the doctor saying Rosie was too young to be on the ship and the medical staff could not provide care if she was sick.
Mrs Moak says she believes their trip was terminated because of the medical mistake. After leaving the ship, but before flying home, the Moaks went to a hospital in Nassau, where Rosie was declared healthy.
The Disney Cruise Lines age requirement officially changed on January 1 from 12 weeks to six months. However, anyone with reservations prior to the change was not affected, according to a company spokesperson.

Guess what ship register in Bahamas so crime is not punished. When you do anything that the Bahamas has control of the you dont get fair justice. To bad for the families

I'm not sure why USAhelp seems to think this is a Bahamian problem because Disney asked the guests to leave the ship because they felt they could not provide adequate care to such a young child on board the ship. Just because she was "grandfathered" in prior to the new age policy, it does not absolve the parents of common sense. Anyone with a little common sense would think twice before taking a 4 month old child on a cruise ship with minimal medical facilities. Just the fact that the infant was seen and declared healthy by the Bahamian hospital shows that no harm was done so what is the basis for redress? People need to take responsibility for their own choices instead of always blaming others!

These parents are so stupid. Who takes a four month old on a cruise ship full of germs and limited medical facilities. I wish I was a Disney lawyer I'd tell them to go f' themselves. They made a poor decision as parents and now looking for a come-up on someone else's dime. Smh....this world today.
