GRAND Bahama recorded its first murder for 2015 when a young man who was stabbed in Freeport died of his injuries in hospital.

His death marked the fourth homicide for the year, according to The Tribune’s records.

The victim, identified as Kevin Harvey, 28, was one of four men involved in a fight at a Coral Gardens apartment complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Acting Superintendant Advardo Dames reported that police were called around 12:40pm Wednesday to investigate a stabbing incident at the rear of an apartment complex on Peridot Place in Coral Gardens, where a group of men were involved in an altercation.

Harvey was stabbed about the body with a knife and taken to hospital, where his condition was listed as critical. He died from his injuries at 5am yesterday.

Mr Dames said police are appealing to the public to assist them with their investigation into the matter. Anyone with information is asked to call 911, 919, or 350-3106-8.

This latest killing came after three men were shot dead in New Providence within a 15-hour period during the first weekend of the New Year.

Last year, 122 people were killed according to The Tribune’s records, three more than the 119 murders police said they recorded in 2013.
