A 28-year-old police officer was charged in the Magistrate’s Court today with the production of child pornography.

Edmund Lewis Jr, also known as “EJ,” was not required to enter a plea or request bail.

He was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison until his next hearing on March 9th.

He is accused of producing child pornography videos between July 2014 and January 21, 2015.

His arraignment came a day after videos, alleged to show him performing sex acts with various women, went viral, causing a stir around the country.

As Lewis walked toward the courthouse, numerous people assembled to film and photograph him.

One woman, who filmed him inside the courthouse, had her phone confiscated.

Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson Pratt told Lewis: “You have a presumption of innocence and I make no comment on that but you are from an esteemed organisation,” she said.

“A matter like this should not come before any court pertaining to a police officer.”

As Lewis is a police officer, Mrs Pratt said, the court will notify the superintendent of the prison of this to ensure necessary measures are taken to guarantee his safety.
