EDITOR, The Tribune.
Watching Obama’s State of the Union address tonight I hoped that ALL politicians in the Bahamas listened to his remarks particularly the later part of his speech where he was talking about the Democrats and Republicans working together.
He said stop sniping at each other because it resolves little and serves no purpose. Get together and resolve issues for the good of the country.
Here, Members of the Assembly were voted in because the people expected them to work together to do their best to improve people’s lives, living conditions, security and so on. It did not mean splitting the nation between one party and the other, helping certain people and letting others slip more into poverty, it means putting personal likes and dislikes aside and trying to do the best for everyone.
Cut out the unnecessary backbiting which we read about in the paper almost everyday. Rarely do we read about issues that help this country to grow.
So did you listen to Obama and take note? I sincerely hope so and then perhaps this country can once again hold its head up in the world.

Nobody watches State of the Union speeches anymore, because everything that the prez is going to say and who any special guests in the audience are going to be etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc is ALL spilled by the media the day before and some of it days beforehand.

In addition, the things reported and the things he says are not even the real news. The real truth (which he won't say) is that he is surrendering the country to Mexico, Guatemala, China, and Cuba.
A new flag will soon be designed and hoisted up the mast. And boy don't let nobody get upset about it - only racists would do that - right?
