RECENTLY engaged Mayaguana native Natera Burrows was the winner of the BTC “Upgrade Your Christmas” house giveaway.

Ms Burrows was speechless when she learned that her key had opened the door to the mini version of the house. The young bride-to-be, was unable to attend in person and was represented by a family member at BTC’s finale party event which was held at the Mall at Marathon’s parking lot on January 9.

The finalists were required to select a key from BTC. Each key allowed the finalists to attempt to open the door of the makeshift house at the finale site. Ms Burrows’ cousin, Tamika Brooks, held the lucky key.

The grand prize was a brand new home courtesy of BTC. The home comes fully furnished and includes a complete alarm monitoring system, one year’s cooking gas, landscaping, and a pallet of fancy beverages, at a price tag of over $200,000.

Marketing vice-president Eldri Mackey noted that BTC’s annual Christmas promotions usually attract thousands of customers.

“The promise of a brand new house triggered an even greater response this year. It was just amazing to see how Natera Burrows, Mayaguana resident, beat the odds to become the lucky winner after signing up for BTC Home Phone Plus service. This is BTC’s biggest prize ever.

“In the past we’ve given away cars and trips, but this time we wanted to do something on a much larger scale. With our house giveaway, we eliminated all the red tape and requirements, and skipped the 30 year relationship you have to make with the bank. That is a major deal.”

Other winners in the “Upgrade Your Christmas” sweepstakes included Shahika Dorsett, who won a round trip to New York City, and a pallet of fancy beverages.
