SHOWTIME: Discover tomorrow’s filmmakers

YOUNG people who took part in a film camp will have their work screened at Galleria Cinemas tonight.

The films have all been made by youngsters taking part in the FilMAD summer camp and school programme.

The programme has covered some hard-hitting themes - including bullying divorce, friendship, communication, working hard, sex and dating, and the effects of the cyber world.

Films being shown at Galleria’s cinema at JFK tonight from 7.30pm include: Attention Seeker by Manessah Ferguson, aged 13; Chocolate Terror by Khaylee Sands (12); Friendship Gone Bad by Ava Donald (nine); Getting Along by Tayler Johnson (ten); The Invisible Child by Jhanos Rolle (14); The Laptop by Christopher Johnson (13); The Middle Child by Carlton Johnson (13); The New Girl by Grade 9 Students of TA Thompson; The School Programme by Alana Drake (nine); Stand Tall by Sania Russell (nine); Story Time by Allana Knowles (13); and Teenage Love Affair by Precious Johnson (14).

FilMAD is a film, movement, art and drama programme designed for children and teens by Moya Thompson.

Each year, the camp invites various guest speakers and filmmaking experts to work with the students, including the likes of Lavado Stubbs of Conchboy Films, musical artist Bodine Johnson, sound designer Theo Miller, photographer Torrell Glinton, drama coach Jovanna Hepburn, special FX make up artist Deborah Thompson, along with class instructors Tossie Strachan, Kaylen Jervis and Natasha Swann.
