GRAND Bahama author Chrishna Bowe promises “the cold hard truth” in tackling the modern social barriers women face in trying to attain a fruitful, fulfilling life to readers of her latest book.
In “Woman to Woman … We’ve Been Duped!” Ms Bowe uses simple and succinct language she calls “real talk” in a candid effort to expose the raw issues women face, without sugar coating. “No one should live this life and come away unhappy,” she said.
She believes perspective is the driving force dictating one’s joy in life and, so, in the book, one of her principle aims is to get readers to re-evaluate their lives so as to optimise their personal happiness.
“Same problems, different settings. This book addresses classic women’s issues but takes into consideration this era,” Ms Bowe said. She feels the unattainable standards and expectations forced upon women today are threaded with deception. She told The Tribune that this blatant “travesty” is just one controversy addressed in the book, hence the “duped” title.
As a wife, mother of three and entrepreneur, Ms Bowe examines various aspects of a woman’s life in the book from a spiritual perspective, such as motherhood and intimate relationships. For ten years she has been a vibrant member of Freeport’s Life Community Church and currently leads an empowering initiative for girls called Generations of Purity. The concept of the book - which was published last fall - has inspired her weekly “Woman to Woman” column in The Freeport News, which is another medium through which she seeks to assuage society’s cold shoulder that women suffer all too well.
Since “women’s issues very rarely change,” according to Ms Bowe, women of all ages can relate to the literary work now, and in the years to come. “If you are ready to face the cold hard truth then this is the book for you,” she said. “We, ladies have been duped! A cruel trick has been played on us and we have fallen for it!”
People can get a glimpse into this mystery today – and the pen behind the pages – when, in an effort to promote the book to a wider audience, Mrs Bowe autographs books and meets readers at a Nassau launch today from 4-8pm at Galleria Cinemas in The Mall at Marathon. Ms Bowe invites both women and men to accompany her “as we, with God’s help, turn the tables and take charge of ourselves, our lives and ultimately our destiny!”
“Woman to Woman ... We’ve Been Duped!” is published by iUniverse and available through sites such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble for online purchase.
