Bahamas Cycling Federation hosts first ever cycling event in Spanish Wells

THE Bahamas Cycling Federation took some of their members to Spanish Wells over the weekend to participate in the first Seagillian Cycling Fest.

The event was a circuit race where the cyclists rode for approximately 50 minutes on a circuit course and after the 50 minutes time lapsed, the next lap would have been the final lap to determine the winners.

Justin Minns was the overall champion, beating out Anthony ‘Biggie’ Colebrooke. Chad Albury got third, Jay Major was fourth and Todd Green came in fifth. The overall female champion was Marla Albury, followed by Peggy Underwood and Kara Green.

Albury, the race organiser, said he was very pleased with the outcome of the event and thanked all of the hardworking members of the Spanish Wells Cycling Association, a newly formed association under the BCF, for their dedicated effort in hosting the first ever cycling event in Spanish Wells.

He also thanked the residents of Spanish Wells for supporting this event as over fifty residents volunteered to control the traffic flow during the event.

Roy Colebrook, president of the BCF, also expressed his gratitude to the Spanish Wells Cycling Association for putting on such a tremendous event, especially as they are a newly formed body of the federation. Colebrook was equally impressed with the support the event received from the residents of Spanish Wells and the enthusiasm they displayed. Colebrook said they hope to partner with the Spanish Wells Cycling Association to make the event much bigger next year.
