Strachan fails to finish women's 200m final

SPRINTER Anthonique Strachan failed to finish the final of the women's 200 metres on Friday night at the 17th Pan Am Games in Toronto, Canada.

Competing in the first final in the evening session, Strachan, running out of lane eight, didn't complete the race that saw Kaylin Whitney of the United States take the gold in 22.65 seconds. Whitney's American team-mate Krya Jefferson won the silver in 22.72 and Jamaican Simone Facey claimed the bronze in 22.74.

Also Friday night, Bianca' BB' Stuart was scheduled to contest the final of the women's long jump. Both the women and men's 4 x 100m relay teams will battle for a spot in the finals on Saturday.

Already into the final on Saturday are both the women and men's 4 x 400m relay teams. The men's high jump final, featuring Pan Am defending champion Donald Thomas and national champion Ryan Ingraham, is also set for Saturday's final day of competition.
