POLICE are investigating the death of a man found hanging outside his home off the Eastern Road yesterday morning.

According to reports, around 6.30am police received information that a man was found dead in the High Vista area.

Officer-in-charge of the Central Detective Unit, Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle, said police are unsure of the circumstances surrounding the death, which has not yet been classified. However, he said, foul play is not suspected at this time.

“We are still in the early stages of investigating a death in eastern New Providence. We are unsure of the circumstances surrounding the death of a 58-year-old male found hanging in the rear of his residence,” Chief Supt Rolle said.

“He was found outside, hanging from a concrete column, hanging with a leather strap around his neck. We will be conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.”

The victim has been identified as Richard Lee Thompson, of Exuma.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.

Investigations continue.

Early last month, police found a 27-year-old woman tied to a tree. Jade Saunders, a young mother, was found dead with a nylon stocking around her neck while kneeling with her head resting against a small tree trunk on Skyline Drive. She was partially clothed, wearing only a bra and pants.

That matter has been sent to the Coroner’s Court for further investigation.
