Just not for Bahamians

EDITOR, The Tribune.

There are those who question the government’s assertion that it has created “tens of thousands” of jobs since it has been in office. I for one believe they are correct.

At least 5,000 Chinese were employed during the construction phase of Baha Mar.

The casual observer can see that there is never a shortage of non-Bahamians working in various capacities throughout the islands of The Bahamas.

We also cannot forget all of the “jobs” created during Junkanoo Carnival.

The challenge is that Bahamians are not the ones being employed in any meaningful way.

In addition, there has been no distinction made between permanent and temporary jobs.

In my view, the government’s job creation programme has confirmed that it is better in The Bahamas indeed, just not for Bahamians.
