MISTY Wells, a competitive angler and outdoors events marketer known as the “Outdoor Darlin”, has been named as Tournament Director for the Bimini Big Game Club Resort and Marina.

A Florida native, Ms Wells is a lifelong angler having participated as a member of a women’s team competing in numerous Florida tournaments, including Key West Marlin, Key West Kingfish, King of the Beach, Islamorada Sea Hunter Owners and Suncoast Kingfish Classic and Bill Curry Ford Ladies Tournament.

A professional staff angler, she is also the first female selected to fish in the Offshore Fishing League (OFL), which is launching its debut on NBC Sports in late 2016. OFL is the world’s first professional saltwater sport fishing league with 30 elite teams comprised of captains, anglers and deckhands.

“We are very pleased to have someone of Misty’s calibre to serve as Tournament Director for our resort,” said James Gould, President of the Horizon Hotel Group which manages the Bimini resort. “She also brings a wealth of experience in outdoors sport event planning and marketing having worked with Fortune 500 companies, sports franchises as well as many national celebrities.”

Ms Wells’ first assignment is the Wahoo Smackdown VII, scheduled for November 12-14. She will engage sponsors and co-ordinate angler registration and tournament rules.

Last November, a record 29 boats participated in the tournament with heaviest fish honours (47.6lbs) going to team Cash Out. The heaviest five fish over two days trophy went to team Fishin’ a Loan.
