Time for a convention

EDITOR, The Tribune.

THE FNM Chairman is quoted as making the above statement in responding to Mr Frank Watson.

Mr Watson is not the only one ‘‘not pleased with the state of the party and the performance of the official opposition.’’

Most FNMs are not.

We call for a convention by November, Mr Chairman. You seem to think you can force the present leadership on us by refusing to hold a convention.

Hold the convention and let the people speak.

Think it's about time the FNM leadership start listening to it's people. Obviously the stalwarts made a huge mistake electing Minnis again. Time to accept your mistake and make it right. The FNM does not want Minnis as leader. And truthfully who can blame them? Minnis has had three years to prove himself. Obviously he has not earned the trust of the party.

FNM is not the PLP. FNM listens to it's people.

Do the right thing and do it now! Time is critical. We need a new leader to get in and get us ready for elections. We need someone that will attract NEW votes. LBT could have done that. Howard Johnson can do that. Minnis obviously cannot. Time to accept reality....

We do not want Minnis or Hubert Ingraham......

Minnis may not have 'curb-appeal', charisma, nor is he savvy when it comes to politics, but I do think that he has the administrative skills, the economic knowledge and the practical sense to run the country. Unfortunately that counts for naught in this banana republic.

Sadly Banker, I must agree with you. As a people we are just too consumed with bells and whistles, smoke and mirrors. Substance, honesty, reliability and accountability are not things we look for in ourselves never mind our rulers. After forty years we haven't learned a damned thing!
