THREE men and a woman, two of whom are customs officers, were arraigned in Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday in connection with a major weapons bust near the Arawak Cay Port last week.

Philip Farquharson, 25, and 21-year-old Terell Cox, with customs officers Paul Clare and Laris Thompson, appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt facing ten counts of importation of a firearm into the country, ten counts of possession of a firearm and conspiracy to import firearms.

According to police reports, on Tuesday, June 16, Drug Enforcement Unit officers conducted a major operation, which resulted in the arrest of two persons and the recovery of eight illegal weapons.

Shortly after 5pm on the day in question, DEU officers followed two men from the Arawak Cay Port and made an interdiction a short time later.

During a search of a vehicle, officers discovered two packages consisting of eight illegal weapons.

The defendants all pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted $15,000 bail each.

They are also required to sign in at a designated police station before 6pm every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

Additionally, Cox was placed on a curfew each night between 11.30pm and 6.30am.

A warrant was also issued for 32-year-old Kenyon Reheed Symonette of 10 Frampton Court, Foxdale, who failed to appear in court.
