BSC Basketball Classic underway

THE Baptist Sports Council kicked off its 2015 Basketball Classic on Saturday at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex.

The Classic will once again be sponsored by AID and will be held in memory of the late Colin ‘Troppy’ Knowles, a former executive and coach in the BSC. There are three divisions being contested – 15-and-under, 19-and-under and men.

Here’s a summary of the games played on day one on Saturday:

St John’s 15, BIBA 11: Rashad Greene scored a game high nine points to pace the defending under-25 champions to victory over last year’s runners-up, who got seven from Grevaglun Goodman and four from Donovan Forbes.

BIBA 31, Macedonia 17: Donovan Forbes and Grevaglun Goodman both scored 10 points and Demeco Dean added eight in their 15-and-under win. NaKyle Rolle and Rohan Munnings both had six in a losing effort.

Macedonia 30, St John’s 23: DeVontee Gibson scored eight points; Devon Adderley had seven; DeAngelo Jolly five and both Troy Marshall and Prince Dill four apiece in their 19-and-under win.

Kedron Williams had a game high nine and Adam Johnson eight in a losing effort.

Macedonia B defeated BIBA 29-19 in another 19-and-under game, but no individual scores were available.

Macedonia 55, Faith United 34: Christopher Gaitor, DeVontee Gibson and Delano Knowles both scored eight; Lerecus Armbrister and Prince Dill both had seven and Alexio Newman, Troy Marshall and Jaleel Simmons both chipped in with four to lead a balanced attack in their men’s victory.

Equante Bowe had seven and Avente Armbrister six in a losing effort.

Evangelistic Center 55, Men of Vision 53: The father/son combination of Tyrone Sands Sr and Jr exploded for 15 and 14 points respectively to lead Evangelistic Center to their men’s victory. Randy Williams helped out with nine and D’Angelo Griffin and Keemy Malander both had eight.

New Mt Zion defeated Calvary Deliverance 38-26 in another men’s game, but no individual scores were available.

Court One

10 am Mt Tabor vs St John’s (15).

11 am Mt. Tabor vs Eagles Nest (19).

Noon St John’s vs Eagles Nest (19).

1 pm Eagles Nest vs Mt Tabor (M).

2 pm Faith United vs Eagles Nest (M).

3 pm Mt Tabor vs Men of Vision (M).

Court Two

10 am Macedonia vs Eagles Nest (15).

11 am BIBA vs Macedonia A (19).

Noon Macedonia B vs Mt Tabor (19).

1 pm Macedonia vs Calvary Deliverance (M).

2 pm Evangelistic Center vs New Mt Zion (M).
